Driscoll "NOT GUILTY"

What a glorious week this had been for Kevin Driscoll. On Wednesday 12 jury members returned a verdict of not just NOT Guilty, But INNOCENT of all charges.


Witness have reported that the verdict came in just over a little after an hour of deliberating. The court room filled up with the entire District Attorney staff and many Driscoll supporters. When Judge Tiktin was reading the verdict to himself he cracked a smile. At that point we all knew the outcome. He read it out loud “Not Guilty” Six times and what a sign of relief on Mr. Driscoll and family. Judge Tiktin then released the 12 jury members. As the 12 jury members walked past the defendant’s table they all offered hand a hand shake to Mr. Driscoll. One of the most unusual sights I have ever seen.


What a blow to Deputy District Attorney Jody Vaughan to have to endure this in front of her entire staff and colleagues. The first thing Ms. Vaughan does is contact local news to try to bash Mr. Driscoll like she has in the past.

Deputy District Attorney Jody Vaughan said the quick verdict was surprising, as the jury had “a lot of evidence to consider, the trial took so long.”


“I have no idea what happened back in the jury room,” Vaughan said. “This is the way our system works, and we have to respect that.”


Driscoll’s attorney, Ted Coran of Salem, confirmed what others in the courtroom told KTVZ.COM of the very unusual aftermath of the not-guilty verdict - that most of the jurors approached Driscoll to shake his hand, even offer hugs after the acquittal was announced.


Most of the 14 jurors and alternates then invited Driscoll and his lawyers to join them in going out for lunch together - a most unusual turn of events.

“It was a singularly enjoyable experience, immensely helpful to me,” Coran said Wednesday night.

“I’ve never seen a jury reaction like this before,” he added. “How smart those people are and how great a cross-section of the community. ... I have tremendous gratitude for those people. Not all juries bring that kind of energy.”

“I’m glad the truth came out,” Coran said.

Asked about such a quick verdict after all that testimony, Coran said, “I was flabbergasted when they didn’t come back that fast the first time,” when the trial ended in what’s often called a hung jury.


“I told Kevin, ‘The longer they’re out, the worse for you,’” he recalled.


“It wasn’t that he was ‘not guilty,’” Coran said. “The evidence was compelling ... Kevin Driscoll was innocent, and those people were happy to tell him that.”

Coran added Driscoll has “solid plans for his life

13 of the 14 jury members (Two Alternates) reported:

“We didn’t know why this case was even to this point”. All but one jury said “we knew one week in Driscoll was innocent, it was so hard to sit there for weeks and listen to the District Attorney go on and on with blatant lies. How can a District Attorney in a position of power expect her witness to tell the truth when she can’t herself”

Deputy District Attorney Jody Vaughan tried everything from lying to fabricating information to prosecute an innocent man. It has been reported that Ms. Vaughan is blogging still about how Driscoll got away with this.

Although in the end 12 jury members Mr. Driscoll and his court room legend Attorney Ted Coran got the last word.

And it was “Not guilty Ms. Vaughan now pack your bags and leave our town”
